TIME TRAVEL AND PARADOXES

TIME

Well before we go in-depth on time travel, we would try to understand WHAT TIME IS? Ok so while most people think of time as a constant, physicist Albert Einstein showed that time is an illusion; it is relative - it can vary for different observers depending on your speed through space.

TIME TRAVEL

Time Travel is the concept of movement of an object or a person in the future or past using a hypothetical device called Time Machine. There are many mythologies regarding time travel in our Indian ancient Hindu text, such stories are been found in Mahabharata stating time travel.

Time travel to the past can lead to various contradictions.

Most of the theories have their own consequences or let say drawbacks. Time Travel also has some of its problems, it has various paradoxes. Well, it is first necessary for us to understand Paradox, so according to Wikipedia, a paradox is a statement or proposition which, despite sound (or apparently sound) reasoning from acceptable premises, leads to a conclusion that seems logically unacceptable or self-contradictory. In simple language, it is a statement that generally has an unacceptable conclusion, the more you try to understand the more you get puzzled.

"ALL PARADOX CREATES A NEVER ENDING LOOP"

TIME TRAVEL PARADOXES

There are many paradoxes in this world like chicken or egg paradox, smullyan's paradox, etc. But these three paradoxes are well famous.
  • Grandfather Paradox
  • Predestination Paradox
  • Bootstrap Paradox

GRANDFATHER PARADOX

Let's suppose you go back in time and kill your grandfather before your father was born. Then your father isn't born which means you are also not born, so the question which arises here is that how did you go back in time and killed your grandfather? So it literally means that you didn't go back in time and kill your grandfather.

PREDESTINATION PARADOX

Predestination paradox is a never-ending loop in which a time traveler doesn’t find the starting or ending point of that loop. We would try to understand it with an example, let's say you love a girl very much. One day you call her for coffee you find that she is driving towards you with a car and is going to reach in 15 minutes. And while the moment you are talking with her, she meets an accident in which she dies. As you loved here very much, you decide to make a time machine and go back in time to save her. After 15 years you get successful in making a time machine and go back in the time on the day when your girlfriend died. After reaching on that day you take a car and go on to the same road where your girlfriend met an accident. In worry of saving your girlfriend’s life, you drive your car very fast due to which your control over your car gets lost and you make an accident. When you get out of your car, you find that the car with which you made an accident, was none another’s but your girlfriend’s car. It means you can’t change the things knowingly, happened in the past but you can become the part of that incident caused in the past.

BOOTSTRAP PARADOX

Once again you go back in time and this time you go meet a great scientist. While talking with him you tell him about great theories he will discover in the future. Inspired by this talk, Scientist discovers the theories in the first place. Then where did theory come from?

AFTER READING THIS BLOG WE GET A GENERAL IDEA THAT TIME TRAVEL IN PAST LEADS TO VARIOUS PARADOXES, WHICH ARE NEVER ENDING LOOP
WELL, TIME TRAVEL IS POSSIBLE IN THEORIES BUT NOT IN PRACTICAL, MAY BE POSSIBLE IN FUTURE BUT TILL THE DATE IS NOT POSSIBLE.
